Disasters Happen Every Day

Community wide disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, the Gulf oil spill, or the 2003 wildfires in Tucson, are in the news every day, but even individual emergencies, such as a home invasion or carjacking, can have a huge impact on your life.  Once it starts it is too late to prepare.  Ready or not, disasters are an unfortunate part of our lives.  Are you prepared?

FMI’s goal is to prepare our students for anything life throws their way.  We take a layered approach to readiness by starting with the individual and building outwards.  There are four Readiness Zones:

  • Zone 1 is you and your immediate surroundings.
  • Zone 2 includes your home and family.
  • Zone 3 encompasses other areas that you frequently visit, such as your cars, work, school, or, for those of us with teenagers, even the mall.
  • Finally, Zone 4 is your community at large

Ultimately, your mental preparedness is your most important asset and our training is designed to guide you in assessing your risk, planning, and responding to emergencies in a powerful, positive mental state.
